RTS PRIORITY AREAS1

Capability Statement

The Centre for Infrastructure Management (CIM) has a strong track record and reputation in the fields of management of the built environment, infrastructure and materials solutions. Our aim is to apply knowledge from our research and development to deliver client-focused and practical solutions.

Capability – Systems

Bridge inspection equipment e.g. covermeter, pundit, concrete resistivity, snake eye, resistivity. Application of half cell in concrete. Testing of construction materials. ESH test frame. Analyse particle size of dry materials e.g. powders. Structural test frame.

Capability – Testing

Accelerated weather testing (expose materials to ultraviolet radiation), carbonation chamber (expose materials to carbon dioxide), concrete pore fluid extraction, concrete corrosion monitoring and cathodic protection, creep testing/deformation, drilling resistance measurement (masonry strength), tension and compression testing to 600kN, strain recording, impact testing, mercury intrusion porosimetry, metal testing (fatigue, hardness etc.), particle size analyser, pull off testing (strength of coatings, concrete etc. in bond), salt spray chamber (expose materials to a chloride environment), shrinkage testing of construction materials, static/dynamic load tests up to 300kN, temperature and humidity controlled chambers (and large temperature and humidity controlled room for maintaining a constant temperature and humidity for materials under test), thermal conductivity testing.
