Inclusive Design Group

The work of the group has been focussed over 20 years to carry out research and develop tools to facilitate designers and engineers to make products and services more inclusively. The suite of tools and research is available for viewing (and some for use) at www.inclusivedesigntoolkit.com. Over the last ten years, the group has engaged directly with the Rail Industry to carry out rail specific research and promote the benefits of the an inclusive design approach to help meet the RTS fucntional priority of ‘Easy to use for all’. Examples of engagement have included RSSB TOC ’16 funded research looking at digital inclusion through to working collaboratively with the design team on a new long distance passenger train design.
The group has capability to carry out incluisve design related and passenger experience research, as well as assist organisations to design any public-facing product or service to be easier to use and more inclusive.
